Can I apply for more than one substitute position?

Yes.  If you apply for substitute teaching positions, you may also select support substitute positions.  The pay rate will reflect the position accepted.

Can I specify schools and days of the week?

Yes, you do have some flexibility with schools and days of the week.

When will I be contacted?

We have an automatic calling system via phone and internet. You will be able to job search within our district. You will be able to accept jobs as early as they are reported to our system. Additional information will be available at a later date.

Where do I get an application packet?

You may pick up an application packet at:

Where do I go for fingerprints?

You must first obtain an application packet. There will be (2) two fingerprinting cards included. Tuscaloosa Police Department will fingerprint you on the scheduled day provided in the package.

Can I turn in some information and bring the other at a later time?

All information needs to be submitted at one time.

What about the fees?

The fees must be in the form of a money order. Cash or check will NOT be accepted. A separate money order written to State Department of Education is required for the fees.

How long will this process take?

The process takes 2-4 weeks. After all paperwork has been submitted, you will be invited to our substitute orientation.
