Carpenter

Qualifications for the position:

High school diploma or GED with written verification of 8 years of verified experience in carpentry. At least 4 of which must be at the assistant level or the equivalent, or verified proof of 3 years of assistant level experience or the equivalent in a school system maintenance department in the relevant trade. Possess a valid Alabama driver’s license.

Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

  1. Help with skilled bench work in a carpenter shop operating various power and hand tools.
  2. Light masonry, glazing, painting, sheet rock finish and installing roofing materials.
  3. Maintain daily maintenance logs and work reports indicating time and materials used.
  4. Be responsible for all equipment, vehicles, tools and other equipment.
  5. Assist with the movement of portable classrooms.
  6. Assist other trades in areas related to overall maintenance eof the school system when assigned.
  7. Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Goal:

To help with carpentry support for the operation of the school system.
