Computer Technician
Qualifications:
- A+ Computer Certification or equivalent experience.
- 3 years experience repairing personal computers (PC's) and printers.
- Provide technical advice and assistance on computer hardware and software needs to all faculty and staff.
- Ability to pull and terminate CAT 5 cable.
- Must be capable of troubleshooting equipment and effect repairs for hardware and software problems associated with network.
- Assist with day-to-day requests regarding use of the computer network and in advising the Network Manager regarding the most effective use of the network by faculty and staff.
- Job requires travel. Must have own vehicle with appropriate insurance.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- NOVELL or Microsoft certifications (Novell preferred)
- Knowledge of IP, TCP/IP protocol and integration within WAN.
- Experience with Cisco routers and Cisco or Extreme switches.
- Dell Certified Technician or Dell Certified Systems Expert.
- Familiar with multi-mode fiber optics cable.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally, in writing, and via e-mail and other electronic communications means.
- Ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative.
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-pace, high-intensive work environment.
Terms of employment:
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy Manual, Fair Dismissal Act of Alabama and the Board's Salary Schedule -- Central Office Administrative Support.
