Coordinator of Facilities
Qualifications:
- College degree.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a public
school institutional setting.
- A valid Alabama drivers license.
Reports to:
Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations
Supervises:
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of the building trades and applicable functions.
- Knowledge of state and local policies and procedures.
- Ability to read blue prints and prepare project estimations.
- Ability to weigh options, think clearly and evaluate.
- Ability to organize effectively.
- Ability to speak and write clearly and correctly.
- Physical mobility, dexterity, strength and visual acuity to
meet system needs.
Job goal:
To provide services which are supportive of the educational program
in the school system.
Performance responsibilities:
- Prepares a statement of need for construction, maintenance,
remodeling and renovation which over a period of one year beyond
the current fiscal year.
- Plans an inspection program for all Board facilities.
- Administers and coordinates the services related to facility
planning and construction, facility maintenance and custodial
services.
- Provides technical supervision of custodial personnel in cooperation
with principals.
- Plans and organizes a training development program for all custodial
and maintenance personnel.
- Assists principals and the personnel department with recruitment
and employment of custodial and maintenance personnel.
- Develops and implements a plan related to health and safety
for maintenance and custodial personnel.
- Prepares for superintendents approval of all payments
to contractors for work completed.
- Negotiates and coordinates lease agreements for certain support
services.
- Performs purchasing duties such as: receiving quotes, bid advertisements,
negotiating prices, and insuring proper documentation.
- Develops a plan of security, custodial services, and opening
and closing for central office.
- Plans, organizes and assigns maintenance employees to routine
daily job tasks.
- Checks completed job tasks of maintenance employees.
- Maintains adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, equipment
and tools.
- Advises school principals on technical matters concerning projects
in their schools.
- Supervises the overall system energy management program.
- Subject to be on call seven days a week, 24 hours a day in case
of emergencies that may threaten the school systems property
or equipment.
- Supervises the planning and construction of additions or remodeling
of existing facilities.
- Adheres to rules and regulations.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable job related duties as
assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Terms of employment:
Salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of
Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance
with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional
Personnel.
