Secretary for Homeless Liaison
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years secretarial experience preferred

Supervisor(s):
Homeless Liaison (Coordinator of Social Work)
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to keep business matters confidential.
- Ability to be sensitive to needs of homeless families.
- Ability to communicate effectively
via e-mail and other
electronic communications.
- Demonstrated ability
to type
60 words per minute is preferred.
- Proficiency
in technology programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
Publisher,
Print
Shop and
Calendar Creator.
- Ability to communicate with people in person
or on the telephone in a professional courteous
manner.
- Ability to use excellent Business English,
grammar, spelling
and punctuation.
- Ability to organize materials and maintain
accurate records.
- Ability to distribute documents in an
efficient
and effective manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective
relationships with other personnel.
- Physical and emotional ability and
dexterity
to perform and move about as needed
in a fast-paced,
high-intensive work
environment.
Essential functions:
- 1. Coordinates appointments and calendar for the Homeless
Liaison.
- Maintains a current list of homeless children and youth.
- Distributes mail and other correspondence
in an efficient
manner.
- Maintains records
of outreach
activities and services provided to homeless
children
and youth.
- Prepare
reports for state and federal monitors.
- Knowledgeable of homeless definition according
to McKinney-Vento
Homeless
Assistance Act.
- Assist with scheduling activities related to
homeless
children and youth.
- Answers all telephone calls and e-mails and
takes messages.
- Prepares memorandums, letters
and other correspondence for the
Homeless Liaison.
- Takes leave time in accordance with
Board policy and reports absences
to
SubFinder
in a timely manner.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties
as assigned by
the
immediate supervisor.
Terms of employment:
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions
of the Board’s Policy Manual, Fair Dismissal Act of Alabama
and the Board’s Salary Schedule – Central Office Administrative
Support – Grade III for 20 hours. Upon termination or expiration
of the grant, this position will no longer exist.
Evaluation:
Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions
of the Board’s policy on Evaluation Support Personnel – GCRK
and GCRK-R
