Payroll Supervisor
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to supervise the payroll functions.
- At least five (5) years experience in payroll procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of a computer.
- . Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure
under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Payroll Clerk
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of double entry accounting and bookkeeping systems, payroll, and accounts payable procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, make policy interpretations, and use independent judgment and supervise subordinate personnel as assigned.
- Proficiency in technology programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- 4. Good knowledge of computer programs including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and
general ledger.
- Ability to communicate clearly with the public and employees.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to keep business matters confidential.
- Ability to organize and maintain accurate records.
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment.
- Knowledge or ability to quickly learn operations of the section or unit so which assigned.
- Ability to perform complex arithmetic operations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally, in writing, and via e-mail and other electronic communications means.
- Ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise, coordinates, and performs the payroll functions and assists in necessary procedures to insure accurate and timely processing of the Board's payroll.
- Assists in the processing of service reports, data input and employment verifications.
- Completes and mails federal and state tax reports, social security reports, unemployment compensation reports and other reports as required.
- Processes enrollment for professional organizations and elective deductions.
- Prepares annual reports for sick leave, personal leave and retirement.
- Reconciles, prepares and mails deduction checks for all funds.
- Maintains system-wide time and attendance system database.
- Performs other tasks as may from time to time be assigned.
- Relays directives, when necessary, from the Executive Director of Finance to staff members.
- Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to SubFinder in a timely manner.
- Attends work and arrives/departs work at the appropriate times as determined by the
immediate supervisor.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the Executive Director of Finance.
Terms of employment:
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy Manual, Fair Dismissal Act of Alabama and the Board?s Salary Schedule -- Central Office Administrative Support.
Evaluation:
Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions
of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel -
