Plumber Assistant
Qualifications for the position:
- High School diploma or GED with completion of an approved plumber's
apprenticeship program, or completion of a trade or technical
school program in plumbing, or verified proof of 4 years plumbing
experience, or written verification of 3 years experience as a
helper.
- Possess a valid Alabama driver's license.
Duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Check and maintain generators, overhaul motors, temperature
recorders, calibrate pressure gauges, meters, and similar devices;
checking all indicating instruments periodically to know the functioning
of each unit and minor electrical repair.
- Consult with outside contractors and employees of other state
agencies regarding design, alteration and repair, and purchase
recommendations of mechanical equipment.
- Establish operating standards and procedures for equipment within
the limitations of assigned temperature requirements.
- Perform limited welding asks as needed.
- Maintain daily maintenance logs and work reports indicating
time and materials used.
- Be responsible for all equipment, vehicles, tools and other
equipment.
- Assist with the movement of portable classrooms.
- Assist other trades in areas related to overall maintenance
of the school system when assigned.
- Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as
assigned by the immediate supervisor.
