Success Specialist Supervisor

In-School Remediation Grant

Qualifications:

  1. Alabama teacher certification
  2. Three (3) or more years teaching experience
  3. Counseling experience preferred
  4. Alabama Administrative/supervisory certification preferred
  5. Administrator/supervisor experience preferred
  6. Such qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports to:

  1. Principal
  2. Coordinator of Assessments, Grants, and Guidance

FLSA status:

Exempt

Supervises:

Faculty, staff, and students assigned to Workforce Investment Act Program

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  1. Coordinate and supervise personnel, programs, and activities as described in the In-School Remediation Program.
  2. Provide effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the In-School Remediation Program.
  3. Ensures the collaborative cooperation between the school system and the education, community, and agency partners.
  4. Responsible for coordinating the recruiting, screening, selecting, and assigning of eligible students to areas of need and service areas.
  5. Develops and maintains an Individualized Service Strategy Portfolio for each participating student.
  6. Prepares and administers the budget and supervises program expenditures.
  7. Ability to use computers to perform word-processing tasks, scheduling, and to maintain records as needed.
  8. Ensures students receive appropriate placement and services.
  9. Plans and accomplishes personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics.
  10. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  11. Provides professional opportunities for staff.
  12. Communicates and clarifies the program’s mission to students, staff, collaborating partners, and community.
  13. Provides a climate of high expectations for staff and students.
  14. Supervises, observes, and evaluates teachers, staff, programs, and students.
  15. Physical mobility and visual acuity to visit schools and classrooms for the improvement of instruction.
  16. Ability to evaluate and coordinate purchases of appropriate instructional software, equipment, materials, and supplies to support the instructional plan.
  17. Knowledge of Workforce Investment Act, Alabama State Department of Education academic remediation for the graduation exam, high school diploma requirements, and Employability Skills assessments.
  18. Performs other duties as may be required.

Terms of employment:

240-day contract (employment is contingent upon WIA grant funds). Salary and benefits will be per Board's Salary Schedule - Supervisors for Curriculum and Instruction.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the WIA (Workforce Investment Act), In-School Remediation Grant requirements and Board policy.
