Technology Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university.
- Documented experience with web design creation and maintenance
- Minimum of five (5) years experience with technology systems.
- Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to prepare and implement the system technology plan.
- Ability to promote the appropriate and ethical use of technology with regard to privacy and copyright issues through acceptable use policy.
- Must remain current in knowledge of technology and computer education through reading and by attending conferences/workshops/classes.
- Good technical, organization and communication skills.
- Ability to update and maintain the system web site.
- Ability to use excellent business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally, in writing, and via e-mail and other electronic communications means.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work effectively under minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize materials and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative.
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-pace, high-intensive work environment.
Job goal:
Insure resources are available to improve learning and instruction through the effective use of technology. Essential functions:
- Serve as the point of contact for E-rate and web site issues
- Serve as the local technology liaison and coordinator of specific initiatives established by the Technology Initiatives Office (ALSDE).
- Coordinate the technology initiative for all schools in the system which includes school technology plans and websites.
- Prepare the development and yearly updates of the system technology plan inclusive of administrative and instructional technology issues addressed in the local school plans, system and individual school plans.
- Maintain current documentation on the status of individual school sites in the installation and the use of technology. Documentation should be collected through classroom visitations.
- Conduct periodic meetings of the System Technology Committee.
- Maintain effective communications with all school technology representatives.
- Provide supervisors and collaborators with periodic reports regarding recommendations for improvement, status of technology in schools, needs and concerns.
- Be a liaison to system, school, board, community, and parent groups.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops such as the Alabama Educational Technology Conference, Alabama Educational Technology Association Conference, IITS video conferences, State/National conferences.
- Keep current on emerging technology practices in education.
- Prepare the E-Rate applications and reports in coordination with the Coordinator of Instructional Technology and the Executive Director of Finance.
- Maintain the system web site.
- Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to SubFinder in a timely manner.
- Attends work and arrives/departs work at the appropriate times as determined by the immediate supervisor.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the Executive Director of Finance.
Terms of employment:
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy Manual, Fair Dismissal Act of Alabama and the Board’s Salary Schedule – Coordinators for Curriculum and Instruction.
Evaluation:
Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel – GCRK and GCRK – R.
