Technology Coordinator

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university.
  2. Documented experience with web design creation and maintenance
  3. Minimum of five (5) years experience with technology systems.
  4. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Supervisor:
Executive Director of Finance

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  1. Ability to prepare and implement the system technology plan.
  2. Ability to promote the appropriate and ethical use of technology with regard to privacy and copyright issues through acceptable use policy.
  3. Must remain current in knowledge of technology and computer education through reading and by attending conferences/workshops/classes.
  4. Good technical, organization and communication skills.
  5. Ability to update and maintain the system web site.
  6. Ability to use excellent business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  7. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally, in writing, and via e-mail and other electronic communications means.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  9. Ability to work effectively under minimum supervision.
  10. Ability to organize materials and maintain accurate records.
  11. Ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative.
  12. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-pace, high-intensive work environment.

Job goal:

Insure resources are available to improve learning and instruction through the effective use of technology.

Essential functions:

  1. Serve as the point of contact for E-rate and web site issues
  2. Serve as the local technology liaison and coordinator of specific initiatives established by the Technology Initiatives Office (ALSDE).
  3. Coordinate the technology initiative for all schools in the system which includes school technology plans and websites.
  4. Prepare the development and yearly updates of the system technology plan inclusive of administrative and instructional technology issues addressed in the local school plans, system and individual school plans.
  5. Maintain current documentation on the status of individual school sites in the installation and the use of technology. Documentation should be collected through classroom visitations.
  6. Conduct periodic meetings of the System Technology Committee.
  7. Maintain effective communications with all school technology representatives.
  8. Provide supervisors and collaborators with periodic reports regarding recommendations for improvement, status of technology in schools, needs and concerns.
  9. Be a liaison to system, school, board, community, and parent groups.
  10. Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops such as the Alabama Educational Technology Conference, Alabama Educational Technology Association Conference, IITS video conferences, State/National conferences.
  11. Keep current on emerging technology practices in education.
  12. Prepare the E-Rate applications and reports in coordination with the Coordinator of Instructional Technology and the Executive Director of Finance.
  13. Maintain the system web site.
  14. Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to SubFinder in a timely manner.
  15. Attends work and arrives/departs work at the appropriate times as determined by the immediate supervisor.
  16. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the Executive Director of Finance.

Terms of employment:

The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy Manual, Fair Dismissal Act of Alabama and the Board’s Salary Schedule – Coordinators for Curriculum and Instruction.

Evaluation:

Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel – GCRK and GCRK – R.
