Application Materials for Certified Personnel
Your interest in employment in the Tuscaloosa City School district
is appreciated. The following information explains the procedure
followed for the employment of certified personnel.
Application: Applications are available on-line (see link below) to all
persons wishing to apply for vacancies in the Tuscaloosa City School
District. In addition to completing the on-line application, prospective teachers must submit the documentation listed below. Documentation in electronic format should be attached to the on-line application. If your documentation is on paper, please scan and save it in PDF format. If you do not have access to a scanner, we invite you to come to the Personnel Office to scan it in.
Incomplete applications will not be considered for employment.
Documentation: An application is not approved
for final employment purposes until all requested documentation
is on file (resume, transcripts, reference letters and teaching
certificate).
- Resume. A detailed resume should be submitted.
- Transcripts. An official transcript must be provided prior
to employment; however, a student copy may be submitted for interview
purposes. An interview will not be conducted without a copy of
the applicant's transcripts.
- References. Letters of recommendation from your most recent
employers and others knowledgeable of your qualifications must
be included with your application. A minimum of three (3) letters
of reference is required.

Certificate/License. You are required to submit
a copy of your current certificate or license with your application.
If you are a graduating student, please submit a copy of the
letter from the university stating that you are starting the

Job Openings: Job vacancies are announced by
posting the position at the central office and at each school.
In addition, these vacancies are listed on the district job line
and web site. Please contact the principal listed on the job posting
to arrange an interview.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to check the Job-Line

Background Check: In accordance with the Child
Protection Act of 1999, all personnel hired by the Board of Education
must complete a favorable Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI)
and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check.
