PROCEDURE OF MINIMUM ACADEMIC STANDARDS

To be promoted from one grade level to the following grade level, a student must master the minimum competencies in reading/English and math and the objectives in the specified levels. In determining the promotion or retention of a student, the student's record is evaluated. This record contains reading/English and math levels mastered, achievement test scores, The Alabama Basic Competency Test scores, attendance data, information on special services received, and the number of failing grades in all subjects.

To Be Promoted PEGASUS (Reading) Reading Mastery Math

From Grade 1 to Grade 2 Level 3 Level I Level 3

From Grade 2 to Grade 3 Level 5 Level II Level 5

From Grade 3 to Grade 4 Level 7 Level III, Part 1 Level 7

From Grade 4 to Grade 5 Level 8 Level III, Part 2 Level 8

From Grade 5 to Grade 6 Level 10 Level IV, Part I Level 10

 

BASE skills and the Alabama Course of Study for each grade are expected to be taught and can be considered as a part of the standard.

To Be Promoted PEGASUS (Reading) Reading Mastery Math

From Grade 6 to Grade 7 Level 11 Level IV, Part 2 6th Grade Basic Skills

 

Instructional objectives within the Alabama Course of Study for each grade are expected to be taught and can be considered as a part of the standard.

To Be Promoted English Math

From Grade 7 to Grade 8 7th Grade Basic Skills 7th Grade Basic Skills

From Grade 8 to Grade 9 8th Grade Basic Skills 8th Grade Basic Skills
