DUAL ENROLLMENT/DUAL CREDIT

The Tuscaloosa City Schools provides advanced level classes, advanced placement classes, and an International Baccalaureate Program as well as a wide variety of elective courses to meet the needs of their students.

Students desiring to take college level courses for dual enrollment/dual credit must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. The student must have completed 11th Grade or have an exemption granted by the principal and in accordance with the Alabama Administrative Code 290-8-19.17 regarding gifted and talented students
  2. The student must have a 3.0 GPA to enroll in academic courses or a 2.5 GPA enroll in non-academic courses.
  3. The student must have the recommendation of the counselor.
  4. The student must complete a “Request for Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit” request form and secure school system approval prior to enrolling in any college course.

The student assumes all responsibility for any tuition, fees, and book costs.

The transportation for any student receiving instruction at any facility other than a school campus of the Tuscaloosa City Schools System shall be the responsibility of the parent/guardian of the student.
