PARENTS’ RIGHT TO KNOW NOTICE

Dear Parent/Custodian:

Pursuant to “The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001” (NCLB) and Board Policy JCB/IHG, we are notifying you that your child has been assigned to, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher and/or substitute who does not meet the “highly qualified” criteria. Below is the name of the teacher and the class/subject:

Teacher’s Name: _____________________________________________

Class/Subject: __________________________________________________

Whether or not your child has been assigned to a teacher and/or substitute deemed “highly qualified,” the Tuscaloosa City Schools considers all of our faculty and staff “highly qualified” and very capable of providing a world class education. Furthermore, the qualifications set forth by NCLB are only different, and not more stringent than the System’s requirements for being “highly qualified.” I hope you are aware that the outstanding work of our teachers, administrators and support staff has resulted in the Tuscaloosa City Schools being recognized on the state and national level for academic excellence.

Please be assured that your child’s academic progress is being monitored closely by our dedicated professionals who will continue to make every effort to ensure that quality instruction is taking place.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

__________________________
Principal
