Introduction

The Alabama Association of School Boards subscribes to the belief that policy formulation is the major responsibility of local school boards. The Association is aware that there is a major need for many boards to develop written, codified policy manuals, and for others who already have such manuals to constantly review policy statements in light of changing circumstances.

The manual is codified according to the Education Policies Service (EPS) system developed by the National School Boards Association. Although the alphabetic system may at first seem cumbersome, continued use will produce ease in retrieval of information, as well as ease in updating.
