Adult Education Classes
Adult Education Program will be administered through Shelton State Community College. The Shelton State Community College Adult Education Program provides services to Bibb, Greene, Hale, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.
The Program operates under the direction of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and serves learners who are 18 years or older and are out of school. Sixteen and seventeen-year-olds may be served if they present official documentation of withdrawal from school. Instruction is provided via traditional and on-line classes as well as through “telephone tutoring.” GED and Career Readiness Credential (CRC) preparation, official practice GED exam, graduation exam help, and skills remediation are offered in all five counties at no cost to students. In addition, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, a bi-lingual outreach program, and Project Literacy United States (PLUS) tutoring are offered in Tuscaloosa County. Adult Education focuses on assisting adults in obtaining knowledge and skills for employment and self-sufficiency.
