Advanced Placement Program

Scholarship winners Advanced Placement Courses are taught to college standards and follow approved curriculum and instruction as designated by the College Board. Most colleges and universities in the United States and Canada, and institutions in more than 30 other countries grant students credits, placement or both for qualifying AP Exam grades. Students also have the opportunity to earn an AP Scholar Award.

Through college-level AP courses, students enter a universe of knowledge that might otherwise remain unexplored in high school; through AP Exams, students have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation's colleges and universities. Students should confer with high school counselors to determine how and which colleges and universities award advanced placement credit. Each AP course has a corresponding AP Exam that schools worldwide administer in May of each year. The AP Exams provide students with a standardized measure of what has been accomplished in the AP classroom and are an essential part of the AP Program.
