Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Enrollment
The Tuscaloosa City Schools accepts applications for the Pre-Kindergarten program each spring. Applications for Pre-K classes are available to all students who are four (4) years old on or before September 2, 2007 and live in the Tuscaloosa City Schools zone. Students who meet the school system’s definition of academically at-risk will be given first priority for Pre-K enrollment. Academically at-risk status is determined by the administration of the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning – 3rd Ed. (DIAL-3) by school system personnel prior to the opening of school. Students who score below the 50th percentile in either Language or Concepts are considered at-risk and will be given first priority for Pre-K enrollment.
Selected schools operate a full-day session beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 2:45 p.m. Monday-Friday. Applications are available at all elementary schools and the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education, 1210 21st Avenue, Tuscaloosa, All 35401.
