Course of Study - Grades 9-12

The course of study offered by the Tuscaloosa City Schools is in alignment with the Alabama State courses of study. It is designed to allow each student the opportunity to achieve his or her individual academic and career/technical goals. We believe that students develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially in a variety of patterns. Therefore, the instructional program has been developed to accommodate the needs and interest of each student.

The availability of courses will depend on a sufficient number of students enrolling in accordance with state guidelines.

The course of study is designed to comply fully with the requirements of Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 and local board of education policy. Local board policy states, in part, that "It is the policy of the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education that no student shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in any program or activity, on the basis of sex, race, age, religion, belief, national origin, disability, or ethnic group."

If complaints and charges of discrimination cannot be resolved through the normal channels of the student grievance procedure, one may file such complaints, in writing with the Coordinator of Title IX, Title VI, and Section 504 activities at the Central Office of the Tuscaloosa City Schools, P.O. Box 038991, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35403 (phone 759-3700). A copy of the grievance procedure is available at the Central Office.
