Message from the Superintendent
I am very pleased and excited to serve as the superintendent of Tuscaloosa
City Schools. I am honored that the Board of Education has confidence
in my abilities and leadership skills to lead our system forward.
I have emphasized my primary focus on creating the best learning
opportunities for our students. I know that all children can learn.
In working with our personnel, I believe and have demonstrated
that our employees should understand their roles and responsibilities
as well as the expectations of the Board of Education. We
are fortunate to have so many intelligent, caring workers from
certified to support,
to our parents and the community, who enhance the lives of
our students. I want to convey to all of our partners that they
are
valued and important to our school system. In my current
role, I hope to encourage and motivate our administrators, teachers,
and staff while serving as a resource to help them achieve
their
goals. As a united system, we are committed to be successful.
My message to parents is that your children are in a district
that is supported by their school Board, faculty and staff,
City of Tuscaloosa, Chamber of Commerce, and surrounding
community. Not only are our students in a safe environment, they
are
in an
academic environment in which teaching and learning take
place. I encourage parents to visit their child’s school, meet the
principals and staff, and offer their resources. As partners in
learning, we can make sure that every child is successful.
Thank You,
Joyce Levey, Ed.D.
