  • Oakdale Elementary is celebrating National Literacy Month during the month of September. 

    Tuscaloosa City Schools is focusing on literacy as part of the curriculum component of the TCS Strategic Plan. TCS is committed to ensuring every child knows how to read before entering the third grade. 

    "Reading is learning!" Oakdale Elementary Principal Dr. Lucile Prewitt said. 

    September is also Library Card Month, so be sure to stop by and get a Family Library Card from Oakdale's Library and visit your local public library as well.

    International Literacy Day is Sept. 8, 2017. 

    Oakdale will be holding it's annual Fall Book Fair the first week of October.
