Congratulations to the Class of 2020!

Overview

  • Over the past few weeks, the Tuscaloosa City Schools has worked with the Class of 2020 and their families to determine a forward to in-person graduation exercises. In order to provide this class with the safest graduation experience possible, TCS worked with the Alabama Department of Public Health and the City of Tuscaloosa to design a graduation event with minimizes exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

These plans reflect the coordination among medical and city officials, keeping the number of spectators at less than 30 percent of the open-air venue’s capacity.

The Tuscaloosa City Schools asks that guests do not attend graduation ceremonies if you have a fever or other symptoms of COVID-19 including cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and/or new loss of taste or smell.  Those with compromised immune systems should not attend graduation ceremonies. If you are reluctant or concerned about attending graduation, this is completely understandable, as each must make the best choice for one’s self and family.

Participation in the graduation ceremony is a choice and students may choose not to attend.  Each graduate's name will be called regardless of attendance with his/her name highlighted on the jumbotron.  Each graduate will be listed in the program with honors noted; all graduates will receive a set of programs prior to the event.

The health and safety of our graduates and guests is our priority. For this reason, graduation planning remains fluid and subject to change based on the health guidelines from local, state and/or national guidance.
