The Central High School Falcons Football team competes in Class 5A play. The Falcons have a long history on the gridiron having begun play in the 1979-1980 season. Through the years the Falcons have netted two State Championships in 1995 and 2007. Additionally, the Falcons have appeared in the Playoffs over twenty times and have sent several players on to NCAA football and, further, to the NFL.

Head Football Coach
Dennis Conner will be entering his 10th and final season at Central High School serving as the Head Football Coach. Coach Conner is a former Central High School linebacker where he excelled on the field, and he later extended his playing career at Jackson State University as a SWAC All-American Linebacker. Dennis has proudly served the Tuscaloosa City Schools for 32 years in which he has served as the Dean of Students for Central High School and Eastwood Middle School.
Prior to Central, Dennis served as the Defensive Coordinator for Stillman College for 10 years. He helped launch the program during the 1999 season in which he experienced Stillman growing from an NAIA school to a Division 2 NCAA Program. Coach Conner has helped numerous young men further their academic and athletic careers from the Tuscaloosa area. In addition, he has provided numerous student-athletes an opportunity to play college football and receive a college education while serving at Stillman College. In addition, Coach Conner has developed several players into playing football professionally while serving at Stillman College and Central High School.
Dennis is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL. He is a Central High School alumnus, married to Carol Conner, and they have two beautiful children.
Assistant Head Coach - Offensive Coordinator
Assistant Head Coach
Rodney Bivens will be joining the Central Football coaching staff, and it will be his 11th season coaching overall. Coach Bivens is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he played quarterback from 2005-2008 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. He also attended the University of Montevallo from 2009-2011 where he received a Master of Education in Secondary Social Sciences.
After graduating from UAB, Coach Bivens began his coaching career at Spain Park High School in Hoover, AL assisting the program to a 10-3 record and a quarter finals appearance in the 6A state playoffs. Prior to joining the staff at Central, he served as the Co-Offensive Coordinator at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, AL. Coach Bivens helped lead Hewitt-Trussville to a 22-2 record over two years, #18 ranking in the USA today national high school rankings, averaged over 46 points per game on offense, averaged over 500 yards of total offense per game, and the #1 offense in 7A. In addition, He served as the Offensive Coordinator at Gardendale High leading the 6A program to a 2nd round playoff appearance and directed the young rising sophomore quarterback to over 2,000 yards of offense and nearly 20 TDs. Coach Bivens is returning to Central as he previously served as the Offensive Coordinator. He helped direct an offense that allowed the quarterbacks to produce over 3,500 yards and 55 TDs in two seasons, and he helped produce the school’s first 1,000 yard rusher in over 7 years.
Rodney is married to Teresa Croom Bivens of Tuscaloosa, AL. Teresa will be entering her first year in Tuscaloosa City Schools one of the Literacy Coaches. Teresa and Rodney have been married since 2014. They have one child, Rocwell Bivens, who recently turned 2 early this year.
Wide Receivers Coach
Coach Smith is beginning his 2nd season of coaching the Wide Receivers and Special Teams at Central High School. Prior to joining the staff, Sky spent 8 years in the Air Force. He graduated from the University of North Texas in 2017, and he's on track to receive his Masters degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama in 2020. Coach Smith is a 2001 graduate of Chambers Academy in Lafayette, Alabama. He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 15 years.
Running Backs Coach
Charlie Hutchins will be entering his 3rd season with the Central Football Program. He has served as the Varsity Running Backs Coach in which he helped develop Central’s 1st 2,000 yard rusher in Javonta Leatherwood. Coach Hutchins also serves as the Junior Varsity Head Baseball Coach for Central High School. Prior to Central, he served for 2 years as a baseball assistant coach at Wallace Community College. Coach Hutchins played collegiate baseball at Wallace Community College, and the University of West Alabama. He is a native of Gainesville, AL where he played football, baseball, and basketball at Livingston High School.
Offensive Line Coach
Cedric Eatmon will be entering his 2nd season coaching at Central High School serving as the Offensive Line Coach. Coach Eatmon as served at several high schools prior to Central. Most recently, he served at Greene County, Fairfield, and Hoover High Schools with both the football and basketball programs. Cedric is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he played collegiate football. Coach Eatmon was born in Eutaw, AL and raised in a family of coaches. His father served at Eutaw High School, and his mother served at Aliceville High School in several coaching capacities. Cedric attended Eutaw High School where he was a three-sport athlete, and was coached by Cleveland Austin in football. Cedric also has a son, Devarious Eatmon, who is a senior student-athlete at Central High School.
Eric Hendricks will be entering his first season with the Central Football Program serving as the Defensive Coordinator. Prior to Central, Coach Hendricks served as the Defensive Backs Coach at Demopolis High School where he assisted the program to a 2nd Round AHSAA 5A Playoff appearance. In addition, he has served as the Defensive Coordinator at Greene County High School for two years and Sumter Central High School for three years.
Eric played collegiate football at the University of West Alabama where he was a four-year starter at Linebacker. He is a native of Fayette, AL where he starred on the football field for Fayette County High School. Coach Hendricks currently serves as the P.E. Coach at Oakdale Elementary, he is married to Shirnice Hendricks, and they have two children Bryce and Daylen.
Defensive Line Coach
Mackhary Williams is entering his 6th season serving as the Defensive Line Coach at Central High School. Prior to Central, Coach Williams served in the Birmingham Metro area as a football assistant and science teacher. Mack also serves as a lead teacher at the STARS Academy/Success Prep in Tuscaloosa City Schools. Mackhary is a native an Adamsville, AL where he excelled in athletics at Minor High School. Coach Williams is also a 22-year military combat veteran, and most recently served in a reserved capacity within the military.
Defensive Backs Coach
Jordan Smith is a native of Millport, Al. Graduated from Huntingdon College in 2017. Played 4 years of football for Huntingdon. He was a part of the offense that was second in the NCAA in Offensive yards per game (585.8ypg). He helped Huntingdon win back to back conference Championships in 2015 & 2016. Jordan has been serving at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School as the PE teacher since 2017. Has been a part of the Central Falcons football staff since 2017 serving as the defensive backs coach.
Defensive Backs Coach
Dondrae’ Collins will be entering his 6th season with the Central Football Team as the Defensive Backs Coach. Coach Collins is a proud native of Northeast High School in Macon. Dondrae’ continued his education at Stillman College where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Health & Physical Education. In addition to his football duties, Dondrae’ Collins serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Central High School and as the P.E. Teacher at The Alberta School of Performing Arts. Deondre’ has a beautiful family including his two children A'kayla and Dondrae'.
DeAngelo Hunter is entering his 3rd season with the Central Football Program working with the Linebackers. Coach Hunter also serves at STARS Academy/Success Prep within Tuscaloosa City Schools. DeAngelo is a native of Fairfield, AL where played football for four years.
