  • Mrs. Ivory

My name is Twana Ivory and I am excited that I have the privilege of filling the role of your new Assistant Principal. I am honored to be joining the Westlawn Falcons in this capacity. I have been in the field of education for 18 years. I have served as an elementary teacher for 13 years and served as a middle school instructional coach for 5 years. I received my Bachelor's degree from The University of Alabama, my Master's from the University of West Alabama, a Leadership degree from Jacksonville State University and I am currently pursuing my Doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Mark; and, together we have two beautiful children, Mark Jr. and Markhia. In my spare time, I love to shop, travel, read, and watch Alabama football (ROLL TIDE)! I am a firm believer that all students can learn and that we are here to support them in their learning. I believe with a positive mindset there is nothing that we cannot accomplish together. I am looking forward to an incredible school year at Westlawn Middle School.

Mr. John Dixon-Goodson, MEd

  • DixonGoodson

I am John Dixon-Goodson, the Eighth Grade Assistant Principal. It is a pleasure to return to Westlawn Middle School to continue the work that started my career as a teacher. This is my ninth year in education and my second year as an Assistant Principal. During my professional journey, I have served as a special education teacher, eighth-grade math teacher, algebra 1 teacher, and self-contained teacher at Westlawn and Davis-Emerson Middle School. Administratively, I previously served as the Assistant Principal of the William E. Burkett Multi-Handicap Center in the Jefferson County School System. Educationally, I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2014 with my bachelor's degree and from the University of West Alabama in 2019 with my master's degree. I am currently pursuing my educational specialist degree at the University of West Alabama, and plan to graduate in December of 2023. It is a dream to one day pursue my doctoral degree from an HBCU.
Personally, I prefer to stay at home and relax. It does not take much to entertain me. During football season, I do find myself on UA's campus Rolling with the Tide and tailgating. My philosophy of education is that students enter our classrooms as blank sheets of paper every day, and it is our job to write positive things into their lives. I believe it still takes a village to raise a child, and we need everyone to have an interest in the child development process called education. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to make every year a successful year.
