Resources to Prepare you for Tests and Help with your Homework

  • We all need a little help sometimes.  Another role the library plays is to be a source of academic support for our students.  Here you will find links to ACT prep resources and homework assistance.  Please click on the link that will help you succeed.

     

    ONLINE TUTORING and STANDARDIZED TEST HELP

    • Homework Alabama offers FREE online tutoring and academic resources from Tutor.com for Alabama residents from kindergarten students through college, plus adult learners. Get help in math, science, English, social studies or writing from a live tutor. Tutors are available 3p.m. - 10 p.m., seven days per week. The Tutor.com SkillsCenter Resource Library is available 24/7. There are also many ACT practices and guides.  The services can be accessed from an Alabama public library, from your home computer or from your mobile device.
    • Learning Express Library  is an absolutely amazing resource chocked-full of online help, practice tests, study guides, and information for your education and career needs.  There is everything from classroom tutorials for K-12 classes to AP exam study guides and practice tests to ACT/SAT/ASVAB practice tests and study guides to even career guidance and help.  You have to create a free login for this, but it is well worth it!

     

    ACT RESOURCES

    • Prepfactory is a multimedia resource with built-in quizzes to prepare you for the ACT.  It is the best free resource we have found to prepare you for one of the most important standardized tests in life.
    • UnionTestPrep provides practice tests, flashcards, and study guides to help you make the highest score possible on the ACT.  This is also FREE!
    • play2prep is a FREE app that turns studying for the ACT into a game.  Sharpen your skills with customized daily training, get test tough with simulated tests, improve your time management with games – on your own or against other players.  Available FREE in the iTunes store or Google Play Store.

     

    HOMEWORK HELP

    • mathTV gives you how-to videos on every type of math.  It provides real teachers working actual problems.
    • KhanAcademy provides video help in all subjects.  It is particularly helpful with math.
    • HippoCampus is a great homework resource with wonderful resources for math, social studies, English, and science.
