  • students in class Northington Elementary School (NES) serves approximately 445 students in grades pre-K through 5th grade. We are located among businesses, shopping plazas, apartments and a public park that is adjacent to the school. The school’s body is unique, in that it is comprised of many ethnic groups with African-Americans and Hispanics making up the highest percentage. NES has the second largest English Learners (EL) population in the Tuscaloosa City School District. Our school fosters a student-centered environment that puts academic success at its core. Northington has a thoughtful and systematic approach to dealing with the needs of all students. Decisions are made in the best interest of the students and we operate with a common belief of “keeping the children first.” Northington provides personalized instruction based on student needs, utilization of technology available to enhance instruction, and collaboration among grade levels to implement research-based strategies to foster critical thinking and improve student learning.
