Dee Hamner
My name is D’Acquistoe (Dee) Hamner, and I have been teaching in Tuscaloosa City Schools since 2015. I have grown up in the shadows of Bryant-Denny Stadium, and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1997. I attended the University of Alabama. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance. Prior to teaching in Tuscaloosa, I taught choral and general music at Sandtown Middle School in Atlanta, GA. I taught strings and general music at Southview Middle School prior to merging with Eastwood. Presently, I serve as the Director of Vocal Music and Choirs, serve on the Building Leadership Team, mentor teacher, and state representative for the Metropolitan Opera’s HD Live in Schools Program. I am an avid lover of music, singing with the First Presbyterian Church-Tuscaloosa Sanctuary Choir, Prentice Concert Chorale, and Iron City Singers (Birmingham). My favorite musical is anything by Stephen Sondheim.I am able to help grow a new generation of musicians. I also get to work with a fantastic group of passionate educators.
