Samantha Shuler

Samantha Shuler's journey as an educator began in 2010. She was granted the opporunity to work with a non profit organization dedicated to educating students about the local wildlife species and preserving their habitat. As a recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from Humboldt State Univeristy, this was an exciting and rewarding experience. It was this position that fuled her passion for teaching. In 2012 her husband joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in Eufaula, Alabama. Samantha took advantage of the new opportunity and earned her Master's degree in Elementary Education from Troy University. After graduation she began working with Dothan City Schools as an English as a Second Language teacher. In the fall of 2016 Samantha joined the Tuscaloosa City Schools family as a 5th grade teacher at Southview Elementary. She was able to apply the knowledge gained in her previous experiences and was quickly recognized for her interactive lessons and effective differenciation strategies. She was recruited to the TCS ESL team as an ESL specialist where she monitors the progress and development of students who speak multiple languages. Her passion for teaching has also extended into the community. In 2018 she launched a successful Bilingual Family Literacy Program to increase parental engagement from multicultrual familes and provide access to school and community information. Samantha can be found kayaking on Lake Tuscaloosa, sitting by a campfire or enjoying a new restaurant while exploring new places.

I love working in the TCS because: of all opportunites to advance as an educator that TCS provides.
