About Teaching & Learning

The Teaching & Learning Department oversees the instructional side of the Tuscaloosa City Schools and is a diverse team of program directors, coordinators, specialists and computer technicians. The department includes everything from arts to assessment, Pre-K to Special Education.
We work to provide a rigorous curriculum for all students while also ensuring our teachers and leaders have the instructional supports needed to succeed. Guided by the Alabama College and Career Ready Standards, our goal is to prepare all students to thrive in our ever-changing, global society. With a focus on student achievement, we strive to build a culture of collaboration and collective responsibility. Partnering with parents, the local workforce, colleges and universities we aim to encourage students to reach their full potential as lifelong learners.
