Tuscaloosa City School system includes three high schools and four middle schools offering opportunities for student participation on athletic teams. Each middle school offers teams in over 9 different sports. The high schools offer over 20 teams in 14 different sports.

In addition, the TCS has strong representation in the Special Olympics program.

Each high school has an athletic director who supervises and administers the local school athletic program. We believe that athletics is an integral component of the total educational structure. While we strive to make our teams as competitive as possible, our primary objective is to help our student athletes acquire important skills that will help them to be successful in their adult life.

The interscholastic sports programs offer an opportunity for participation in a variety of activities, which are a vital part of a student’s educational experience. Participation is a privilege that carries with it responsibilities to the school, sport, other students, the community, and to the athletes themselves. Participation in interscholastic sports in the Tuscaloosa City School system is entirely voluntary. The opportunity to participate is extended to all eligible students.
