The WFES Culture of Reading

  • At Woodland Forrest Elementary, Readers are Leaders and Leaders are Readers!

We embed reading into our days from the beginning to the end. Students are encouraged to read deeply and across multiple subjects, engaging with books that are "just right" for them. Students select books that meet their interests in the library, as well as in classroom libraries, allowing them to connect with literacy in a student-led way.

WFES hosts Literacy Night, Write Night, Book Fairs, Book Giveaways, and other events throughout the year to keep the reading momentum. WFES students participate in district-level and school-level reading challenges, both digital and print.
