The Champion Summit at Central Elementary is a part of our positive behavior support program which was created with the philosophy that teachers are champions for their students. We encourage every teacher to serve as a mentor for each of their students. Teachers are trained to speak in a positive manner and encourage students to do their best at all times. The program emphasizes school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors in order to create a positive school environment. Students are recognized as champions by striving to meet Dr. Linebarger’s Outstanding Champions 5 (DOC’s 5). DOC’s 5 focuses on five key principles: Attendance, Discipline, Leadership, Character, and Academic Achievement. Each Monday, one student from grades pre-k through fifth grade is recognized for meeting the DOC’s 5 principles. The students are celebrated at a school wide pep rally every morning. The event involves grade level champions being awarded, dancing, music, presentations, and a Champion Speaker.
