• Since 1993, the Tuscaloosa City Schools have served eligible four-year olds with high-quality pre K instruction. Recognized as a leader in pre kindergarten education, the system serves nearly 450 students at multiple sites throughout the district.


    Funding for the program comes from local, state and federal funds. TCS is also a recipient of multiple Office of School Readiness (OSR) First Class grant-funded classrooms. Additionally, the City of Tuscaloosa and Mayor Walt Maddox are feverent supporters of pre K education and support it through the annual Mayor's Cup 5K/10K since 2006.


    Applications for pre K are accepted Jan. 15 - March 4 at 2:00 p.m.

  • TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The Tuscaloosa City Schools will begin accepting applications for the Alabama First Class Pre-K Program on January 15, 2019-March 4, 2019 at 2 PM.

    To be eligible, applicants must be 4 years old on or before September 2, 2019 and live within the zone of the school for which they are applying . The application process is online only. To apply, visit https://alprek.asapconnected
