CANstruction Team Wins Award for Structural Ingenuity

Northridge Middle School students participated in the annual CANstruction challenge on Monday, February 25. Teams from all TCS schools competed to build a structure made of canned goods. The NMS team created an hour glass with the theme "Making Time Run Out on Hunger." Teams were required to finish their can structures on the first day of the event, and through the rest of the week, visitors were invited to a week long viewing of those structures.

The Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation were held Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center, Harrison Gallery and Monarch Espresso Bar.

The winners were as follows:
Best Meal: Verner Elementary and Northridge High
Best Use of Labels: TASPA and Eastwood Middle
Most Creative: Woodland Forrest Elementary and TMS-Middle
Structural Ingenuity: Skyland Elementary and Northridge Middle
Student Choice: University Place Elementary and TMS-Middle
Public Choice: Central Elementary and Eastwood Middle
Public Choice Community: The Rise School

In addition to giving our TCS student an opportunity to participate in a fun and educational experience, CANstruction helps our community by donating all of the food items to the West Alabama Food Bank after the event.
