Three Skyland teachers have been recognized as TCS Apple Award winners for the 2020-2021 school year.
Congratulations to Skyland's Teacher of the Year - TCS Apple Award Winner, Ms. Patricia Tessner.
Ms. Tessner started her teaching career 13 years ago as an Elementary Special Education Teacher with the Tuscaloosa City Schools. Her first career as a Pediatric Nurse inspired her to pursue a Master of Arts in Special Education. Always looking for opportunities to learn new skills and become a better teacher for her students, she committed to a 2-year program in Multi-Sensory Structured Language Education and became a Certified Academic Language Therapist. She has been a Reading Interventionist at Skyland Elementary for the past 2 years.
Congratulations to Skyland's Support Employee of the Year - TCS Apple Award Winner, Mrs. Deletha Atmore-Daniels.
Deletha Atmore- Daniels is the Secretary/ Bookkeeper for Skyland Elementary School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In this position, Mrs. Atmore-Daniels works closely with the principal and staff with providing administrative assistance.
Mrs. Atmore-Daniels serves as the first point of contact for visitors at Skyland Elementary. She enthusiastically greets each visitor and/or caller as well as offer any assistance if needed. Mrs. Atmore-Daniels strives to identify all students at Skyland, and establish a rapport with the parents of each student. She also demonstrates excellence at Skyland with her dedication to punctuality, positive attitude, a kind word and a smile (even behind her mask).
Mrs. Atmore-Daniels believes that children will mimic what they see in adults.
Mrs. Atmore- Daniels has over 20 years of experience as a Secretary/ Bookkeeper. She joined Tuscaloosa City Schools in 2016. Prior to employment with Tuscaloosa City Schools, she served as office manager for Rebecca Brooks, Attorney at Law, where she assisted with various task needed to represent clients.
Congratulations to Skyland's Technology Innovation TCS Apple Award Winner, Mrs. Jennifer Eggers.
Mrs. Eggers is a virtual first-grade teacher at Skyland Elementary School. This is her third year with TCS. She represents the K-2 teachers on the Literacy PLC, has attended the PTLA Learning Academy, and served as grade-level chair.
