Students from Verner Elementary are making a difference in Tuscaloosa as part of the United Way's annual Giving Campaign. Students raised $731.88 to support the work of the charitable organization. The funds were raised by a friendly competition between a group of girls and a group of boys. The winners receive a pie in the face. In a special district wide celebration event held on November 5, members of the Student Council presented United Way CEO Jackie Wuska with a check.
United Way of West Alabama strengthens education, income stability and health in our nine-county footprint by developing resources and strategic partnerships. Donations to United Way of West Alabama stay local and go directly to agencies and initiatives improving our community. The students' contribution is part of the community-wide campaign to raise $4 million. Click for more information about the United Way and the work it does in West Alabama.
