On Saturday, March 5, Northridge High student Mustafa Gurbuz participated in the Central Alabama Regional Science Fair (CARSEF) at the University of Alabama Birmingham. His project entitled "Cleaning Up the World's Oceans Using Underwater Laser Imaging" won two awards!!
1. Stockholm Junior Water Prize (Regional Water Prize) for a water-related science research project and is eligible to continue on to the state-level water competition, which involves writing a research report based on his project (due April 15th).
2. The National Geographic "Cultivating Empathy for the Earth Award" for the development of an innovative geography project, which comes with a $100 prize!
He and the team will be competing in the April 28-May 1, Sea Rov Competition held at Dauphin Island.
